Thematic Connection	Advanced All products are connected to an overall theme and represents a deep understanding of the text	Proficient Products have an overall theme and represent a good understanding of the text.	Developing Products generally follow a theme but only show a basic understanding of the text.	Beginning Products do not have a connecting theme and/or do not show an understanding of the text.
Originality	Advanced Considerable amount of original thought. Ideas are creative and inventive. All sources are accurately documented in MLA format.	Proficient Some original thought, new ideas and insights. All sources accurately documented in MLA format.	Developing Uses other people's ideas, but little evidence of original thinking.
