StoryBird Rubric This is how you will be graded for the final draft of your StoryBird project.
	Poor 1 pts	Mediocre 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Great 4 pts
Theme Do you have a MAIN IDEA repeated throughout your story?	Poor There is no clear theme present in the Storybird.	Mediocre A theme exists, but it may or may not be clear.	Good A clear theme exists, but it may or may not be orginal.	Great A clear and orginal theme exists that draws the reader into the story.
Visual Elements Do your graphics help or distract your reader from understanding the main idea or theme?	Poor There are not enough pictures to make the story interesting or they do not match the story line.	Mediocre A picture is used on most pages,, but it may or may not reflect the correct theme.	Good A picture is used on each page and appropriately reflects the theme.	Great The pictures chosen for each page draw the reader into the story.
Length Do you have at least ten pages in your story so that the theme is fully developed?	Poor The story contains 3 pages or less.	Mediocre The story contains 4-5 pages.	Good The story contains 6-7 pages.	Great The story contains 8-9 pages.
Writing Process Does the final draft reflect investment in the writing process?	Poor There are 3 or more mistakes on every page that reveal inattention to detail and lack of investment in the writing process.	Mediocre There are less than 2 mistakes on every page that reveal inattention to detail and lack of investment in the writing process.	Good There are less than 4 mistakes throughout the entire story. The author obviously paid attention to the process of writing.	Great There are less than 2 mistakes throughout the whole story. It is evident that the author went through the entire writing process intentionally and thoughtfully.
