Traits and Support	Poor Student cites textual examples that vaguely relate to the traits cited.	Fair Student cites one textual example that supports well one trait about the character.	Good Student cites 2 traits and supports one or more traits with one example from the text that clearly supports that trait.	Excellent Student cites 2 traits and supports each trait with 2 examples from the text that clearly relate to the traits.
Organization	Poor Student writes everything in one paragraph.	Fair Student has an introductory paragraph and a body paragraph.	Good Student has an introductory paragraph, a body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph.	Excellent Student has an introductory paragraph, two body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph.
Grammar	Poor Spelling and errors interfere with meaning for audience.	Fair Spelling and errors are distracting but paper is legible.	Good Spelling, transitions and punctuation errors do not distract the audience from the message of the paper.	Excellent Spelling, transitions and punctuation add to the clarity of the paper.
