Tessellation of the Plane

Students will be designing their own tessellations using either triangles or quadrilaterals. From this project, students should learn that any triangle or quadrilateral can cover a plane without any gaps in between the shapes because of their interior angles.

Shape/Form	Yes Used either a variety of different-shaped triangles or same-shaped quadrilaterals that covered the entire sheet with NO GAPS in between the shapes.	Yes-But Used either triangles or quadrilaterals to cover the sheet, but the shapes didn't fit nicely together and there were either 1-3 GAPS on the sheet.	No Used a shape other than a triangle or quadrilateral to try and cover the sheet, or there were 4 or more GAPS on the sheet.
Originality/Creativity	Yes Created a character or object out of the design (i.e. frog, cat, torch,etc), and used contrasting colors to make the designs stand out.	Yes-But Used different types of lines, such as wavy-lines, zig-zag lines, etc for creative effect, but only used like-colors in design and didn't create a character.
