Writing Project Rubric 
Basic writing rubric for graduate students. I'll use it when teaching Evaluation and Monitoring. The projects will be Evaluation Plans for public health programs.

Sentence Fluency

Sub Standard

Sentences are all simple and lack variety. This writing feels "robotic".
Approaches Standard

Sentences are all similar in format. The writing feels choppy and does not flow well.
Meets Standard

Sentences are well structured. Some vary in length and can be read with fluency.
Exceeds Standard

Sentences are well built, strong with varied lengths. The writing flows well when read aloud.
Conventions

Sub Standard

Errors in spelling, grammar, usage and/or punctuation make it difficult to read.
Approaches Standard

Writing is readable, but shows little understanding of writing conventions. Errors in spelling, grammar, usage and/or punctuation negatively effect the quality of the paper.
Meets Standard

Writing shows an understanding of writing conventions. There are limited errors in spelling, grammar, usage and/or punctuation.
Exceeds Standard

Writing reflects a good grasp of standard writing conventions. There are very few errors in spelling, grammar, usage and/or punctuation.
