Day and Night Day and Night Students will demonstrate an understanding of how day and night work. Students will engage in group learning activities researching topic of day and night. Understanding ACSSU048	Poor Demonstrates no understanding that the earth revolving and orbiting affect day and night. Explains that the sun is in the sky during the day and the moon at night.	Fair Demonstrates limited understanding of the way the earth revolves and orbits and unable to explain mechanism clearly.	Good Demonstrates some understanding that the earth revolves on its own axis. Knows that the earth and moon orbit but not sure what the relevance is.Uses props to help explain the process.	Excellent Demonstrates a good understanding of how earth revolves on its own axis in 24 hour cycle resulting in day and night cycle. Exceeds the set requirement by being able to explain that the earth orbits the sun in a year and that seasonal changes occur because the earths axis is slightly skew.Understands that the earth orbiting the sun occurs over one year.
