Letter
Poor
The text does not follow the format of a letter, and lacks the personal touch of one. However, there is an attempt to address the intended reader, and to respond to what they have done at some point in the book. The student choses a point-of-view (self, another character, historical figure), but is ineffective.
Fair
The letter does not follow basic format, but does address an intended reader in a personal way. There is an attempt to show that the writer feels strongly about the reader, and and attempt to connect with them. The student choses a point-of-view (self, another character, historical figure) and writes within that POV inconsistently.
