Attending/Planning/Running Meetings
Exemplary/Excellent
Meeting attendance records are documented. All team members present at all meetings and rare absences are excused in advance by the advisor. Meeting agendas are provided for each meeting and documented.
Accomplished/Good
Meeting attendance records are documented. Occasional missed meetings by team members. Meeting agendas are alluded to but not clearly documented.
Developing/Fair
Most members present at most meetings with some unexcused absences. Attendance records are spotty. Meetings are run well but not planned in advance with a written agenda.
Deficient/Poor
Many members frequently miss meetings and do not inform the team. Little or no attendance documentation. Meetings are poorly run with no advance written agenda.
Defining Members’ Roles
Exemplary/Excellent
Roles and tasks are clearly assigned to every team member. These roles and tasks are documented and acknowledged by each team member.
Accomplished/Good
Roles and tasks are assigned to each team member with occasional missed documentation. Team roles are informally assigned and not clearly documented.
Developing/Fair
Roles and tasks are assigned informally with spotty documentation. Team roles are highly informal and are not documented by the team leader.
Deficient/Poor
Poor documentation of roles and tasks. Member roles tend to vary from week to week and responsibilities are not delineated well.
Work Breakdown
Exemplary/Excellent
SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, results oriented, time based) tasks are agreed upon and documented. Weekly goals are assigned to team members with clear due dates and completion dates.
Accomplished/Good
4 or more SMART aspects met. Vagueness to goals and tasks makes it difficult to know when the goal is met. Assignments are documented with due dates
Developing/Fair
3 or more aspects met. Vagueness makes it very difficult to document the completion of the goal/task. Documentation is incomplete with missing entries.
Deficient/Poor
Goals are not SMART and tasks are not clearly assigned with due dates. Documentation is highly incomplete or missing entirely.
Making Collective Decisions
Exemplary/Excellent
Clear procedures for making decisions are established and documented. Decisions, the process by which they were made, and the involvement of members are also documented in the meeting records. At least one example of the decision making process is recorded in detail in the narrative.
Accomplished/Good
Decisions and the involvement of team members are documented in the meeting records. The decision making process is ad hoc and is not clearly established by the team. At least one example of the decision making process is recorded in the narrative.
Developing/Fair
Decision-making procedures are established informally, leading to inconsistency in implementation and a failure to involve all members in decision making. Incomplete documentation of decisions. One example of the decision making process is recorded in the narrative but details are incomplete.
Deficient/Poor
Little to no documentation of the decision making process. Involvement of team members in making decisions is unclear. An example of the decision making process is alluded to in the narrative but not well described.
