Purpose and Originality	Level One Poem appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas are impersonal or unoriginal. Poem does not offer advice.	Level Two The poem is creative, but appears to be rushed. The poem fails to offer genuine advice. Heavy use of cliches.	Level Three Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written. The poem offers original advice in a fun imaginative way.	Level Four Poems is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions.
Form	Level One Poem is not written in the proper form. The poem has eight lines or less and only one stanza.	Level Two Poem is somewhat written in the proper form. It has seven or more lines and two or more stanzas.	Level Three Poem is mostly written in the proper form. Poem six lines or more and is organized into three or more stanzas .	Level Four Poem is complete and follows its intended form. The poem has five lines or more and is organized into four or more stanzas.
Grammar	Level One There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand.	Level Two The poet's intended meaning is muddled by several spelling or grammar errors.	Level Three A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem.	Level Four Proper use of modern English spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem.
