The student plays the passage and all notes are performed accurately with correct finger patterns and only very minor intonation issues.
Meets Expectations

The student performs 80% to 95% of pitches accurately with only one or two finger pattern errors and minor intonation flaws.
Developing

The student has a general idea of the finger patterns needed to play the passage but has more than three finger pattern errors and significant intonation pattern.
Needs Improvement

The student does not understand the finger patterns necessary to play the passage resulting in poor intonation and incorrect pitches throughout the passage.
Rhythmic Accuracy

Exceeds Expectations

The student performs the passage with no rhythmic errors.
Meets Expectations

The student performs the passage with one or two incorrect rhythms.
Developing

The student performs the passage with three or four incorrect rhythms.
Needs Improvement

The student performs the passage with more than four incorrect rhythms.
Fluidity

Exceeds Expectations

The student performs the passage with a consistent tempo with no interruptions in pulse.
Meets Expectations

The student performs the passage with one or two interruptions in a fairly consistent tempo.
Developing

The student performs the passage with three or four interruptions, and the tempo is somewhat inconsistent.
Needs Improvement

The student performs the passage with numerous stops and starts.
Tone

Exceeds Expectations

The student performs the entire passage with a deep and clear tone and appropriate bow apportionment.
Meets Expectations

The student performs most of the passage with good tone and has only brief interruptions in tone quality and bow apportionment.
Developing

The student performs the passage with a good basic tone but has some significant interruptions and developing bow apportionment.
Needs Improvement

The student performs the passage with a fuzzy tone using small bows producing poor tone.
