Ceramic Criteria
	Needs Improvement (0-10 points) 50 pts	Satisfactory (11-15 points) 75 pts	Excellent (16-20 points) 100 pts
Construction and craftmanship 20 pts	Needs Improvement Overall construction has flaws such as cracks, warping, dents, visible seams, clay is too thick or too thin, rough edges.	Satisfactory Construction is sound and functional without obvious flaws, edges are smooth, and parts are neatly joined.	Excellent Outstanding construction indicated by artistic use of clay's plasticity to enhance form and construction technique. Decoration enhances form. No apparent flaws.
Design of the ceramic form 20 pts	Needs Improvement Project is deficient in overall design such as too big, too small, no detail, unbalanced, disproportionate.	Satisfactory Basic design is balanced, good flow to all sides. All parts work together and received equal attention to detail.	Excellent Outstanding form and flow from all sides. Has unique qualities that set it apart from the rest.
Creativity/Originality 20 pts	Needs Improvement Project completed, but with little to no evidence of trying new or unusual ideas. Little to no time taken to brainstorm ideas.	Satisfactory Project completed with some evidence of trying new ideas. Time taken to brainstorm ideas. Project lacked some originality and/or may have copied some ideas.	Excellent Project completed with evidence of brainstorming and using new ideas within work. Finished product shows creativity and originality.
Effort/Perseverance 20 pts	Needs Improvement Little to none of instruction followed. Project completed with minimal amount of effort.	Satisfactory Followed instruction. Project completed, but improvements could still be made with more effort. Project showed adequate interpretation of assignment criteria.	Excellent All instruction followed. Project completed to best of ability. More effort put into project than what was required. Excellent finished product developed.
Class Participation 20 pts	Needs Improvement Inattentive to instruction, inefficient use of class time, project not completed on time, work area not cleaned.	Satisfactory Proper use of materials, equipment, cleans up work space, attentive to instruction.	Excellent In addition...assisted those that may need help, encouraged others. Contributed and invested in the whole process.
