Compliment Give at least one compliment about something the author did well. Be specific.	Excellent The feedback includes at least one compliment on something the writer did well. The compliment specifically references something from the writing.	Good The feedback includes at least one compliment on something the writer did well. The compliment does not specifically reference something from the writing.	Fair The feedback includes at least one compliment. However, the compliment is not specific - says "Good job." or "That is nice." There is no reference to the writing.	Needs Improvement The feedback does not include a compliment.
Goal-Referenced The feedback references the assignment's rubric and/or checklist.	Excellent All feedback references the assignment's rubric and/or checklist.	Good More than 80 percent but less than 100 percent of the feedback references the assignment's rubric and/or checklist.
