The student is to write an analysis of a poem and song of his/her choice identifying poetic devices used by the artist(s). He/She should also explain why the poem and song are meaningful to him/her.

The analysis includes 25 or more of the elements. The student shows clear understanding of the terms and the analysis enables the reader to have a clear understanding of the author's and artist's works.

The writing has 8 or fewer errors, but requires more than one reading to understand and follow the thoughts and ideas.

The writing has notable structure. There are 6 or fewer errors. the thoughts and ideas of the writer can be easily understood.

The writing has a clear and cohesive structure. There are 4 or fewer errors. The writing conveys meaning effortlessly.
