Leaf Classification Project

Identify, collect and mount leaves according to the 4 characteristics we have been studying on page 10-11 in your science book. Find these leaves and label the type and name of the leaf. Follow directions on page 12 on how to mount your leaves in your booklet. Use your own design on your booklet and how you present this to the class.

Leaf collection 20 pts	Poor One sample for less than 4 classifications.	Fair One sample for at least four classifications.	Good Two or more samples for each of the four classifications.
Classification 20 pts Correct classification.	Poor Several pictures are misclassified.	Fair Two or less pictures are misclassified.	Good Pictures are classified correctly.
Neatness 10 pts Overall neatness, correct spelling, and correct headings. Mount leaves correctly. (Use directions from page 12).	Poor Misspelled words, samples are not mounted neatly, headings are missing.	Fair No misspelled words, but samples are not mounted neatly or one or more headings are missing.	Good All words are spelled correctly, all samples are mounted neatly, and category headings are correct.
Booklet & Cover Display 20 pts Originality, overall neatness, title of project, and student name.	Poor Left out numerous parts of cover, sloppy presentation.	Fair Marginally attractive, left out 1-2 parts required for cover.	Good All parts of cover are completed and neat in presentation. Cover is colorful and attractive.
Leaf Presentation to Class 20 pts Gave brief description of his/her booklet. Where leaves were found etc..	Poor Did not know information about leaves in notebook. Giggled and did not present to students in a way they could understand.	Fair Gave brief description, knew most of the material.	Good Gave brief but clear description. Knew material, and spoke clearly and with poise.
