Science Experiment Product Evaluation

Students are to design an experiment which can be conducted at home Projects must include a problem, hypothesis, step by step experiment instructions and illustrations or photos that show the process. Students state their conclusion explaining if the experiment supported their hypothesis. Students also discuss how the results will be applied to future use of how a product is helpful.

Materials	Excellent Clearly and concisely lists all required materials needed to conduct experiment.	Good Lists materials required to conduct experiment.	Fair Lists some materials required to conduct experiment.	Poor Materials are unclear or not listed.
Method	Excellent Steps of the experiment are clearly stated so that another person can perform the experiment.	Good Steps of the experiment are stated but minor details are missing so that another person would have trouble performing the experiment.	Fair Steps of the experiment are unclear or missing so that another person would not be able to perform the experiment.	Poor Steps of the experiment are not included.
Results	Excellent Results are clearly stated so audience understands which products are effective or ineffective and how the products were effective or ineffective.	Good Results explain how the products worked. Some minor details are missing from the results.	Fair Results explained with some details that show which product is effective.	Poor Results explained with little to no detail to show which product is effective.
Conclusion	Excellent Clear and concise conclusions are given. Conclusion addresses problem and states knowledge gained. Conclusion and hypothesis are plainly connected.	Good Conclusions are present and complete, knowledge gained is present, but not clear and concise. Hypothesis and conclusion are plainly connected.	Fair Missing some parts of conclusion or knowledge gained. Connection between conclusion and hypothesis is not entirely clear.	Poor Missing conclusion completely, or conclusion and hypothesis are not connected.
