Rationale of Alienation

Target

To receive a target evaluation the presentation addresses the group's definition of alienation and how they arrived at their conclusion as well as how it relates to their character. Some misconceptions about the terminology are alright.
Acceptable

To receive an acceptable rating for this portion of the presentation students give their definition of alienation and explain how it relates to their character. They may not explain how they arrived at their definition or what affected their decision. Misconceptions can occur.
Unacceptable

Students receive an unacceptable rating for this portion of the presentation if they fail to address at least two of the following: definition of alienation, how they arrived at this conclusion, and how it relates to their character. They may do only one of these or none of them.
Rationale for Character Development

Target

To receive a target evaluation, the students must explain what character development is and how it was used to make their character the way he is. The theme of alienation is also discussed in relation to their character along with their character's traits, values, beliefs, actions, and ideas.
Acceptable

To receive an acceptable evaluation, the students must explain what character development is and describe how they think it was used to create their character. They give examples of their character's traits, values, beliefs, actions and ideas.
Unacceptable

To receive an unacceptable rating, students only list examples of their character's traits, values, beliefs, actions and ideas. Or they only give a definition of character development. Either way, this portion of the presentation is lacking in two or more of these required elements.
Explanation of symbols & artifacts

Target

To receive a target evaluation, students must describe the symbols, textual artifacts, and other evidence they included on their biography. They must also explain why they chose these specific pieces and tell how/why they relate to their character. The student also references the body biography, can be by pointing to certain parts of the character, when presenting it to the class.
Acceptable

To earn acceptable, students must describe the majority of their artifacts on the body biography and explain how they relate to the character. They may also give a brief description of why they chose them. Little reference is made to the physical body biography during the presentation.
Unacceptable

The students merely lists the artifacts but gives no in depth explanation of how the artifacts relate to their character or how they chose their artifacts. No reference is given to the physical body biography.
Overall Presentation and Speaking

Target

To receive a target evaluation, all students in the group discuss the symbols and artifacts, the character development idea, and the theme of alienation. On top of this, the speaking quality is audible, articulate, with few pronunciation errors. Students stay mostly on topic and show evidence of being prepared by making eye contact with their audience and referencing the body biography.
Acceptable

Students earn an acceptable evaluation when most of the group members speak. The speaking quality of the group members is audible, clear, and articulate with several to few pronunciation errors. Students have some difficulty staying on topic or are only partially prepared to present.
Unacceptable

Students earn an unacceptable evaluation when they do not refer to the body biography and are unprepared to present. They may not have a complete product to present but try to carry on a conversation. Little to no eye contact is made and their speech is extremely difficult to understand. Many words are mispronounced or are used incorrectly. The volume of their voice is too low to be heard and easily understood. Students demonstrate many off topic and off task behaviors.
