Student reads at a slow, laborious rate. Student makes frequent pauses, hesitations, false starts, sound outs, and/or multiple attempts.
Approaching Standards
Student reads vocabulary words either too quickly or with uncomfortable pauses. Many words are sounded out. Several breaks in smoothness caused by diffulties with specific words. Often sounds choppy or skips words.
Almost Meets Standards
Students reads at least 85% of vocabulary words with smooth, conversational, comfortable rate. Most miscues are self-corrected. Sometimes sounds choppy or skips words.
Meets Standards
Student reads reaqds 95% of vocabulary words with smooth, conversational, comfortable rate. Any miscues are self-corrected.
Exceeds Standards
Students reads all vocabulary words with smooth, conversational, comfortable pace. There are no miscues.
