Are finals/vowels sound pronounced correctly? Is a difference made between short and long vowels?

Advanced

All finals/vowels
including ü sounds are pronounced correctly with sensitivity to long and short quantities.
Intermediate

Finals/vowels including ü sounds are recognizable. Some attempt at distinguishing between long and short vowels has been made.
Novice

Numerous errors in pronouncing finals/vowels sounds. Errors make understanding the Latin difficult.
Consonant Quality

Are initials/consonants sounds pronounced correctly? Are double consonants held? Are r's rolled?

Advanced

All initials/consonants sounds are pronounced correctly. j, q, x, z, c, s, zh, ch, sh, r, y,w sounds are all correctly pronounced.

Most initials/consonants sounds pronounced are pronounced correctly. There is a few mistakes in j, q, x, z, c, s, zh, ch, sh, r, y,w sounds.

Numerous errors in pronouncing initials/consonants sounds pronounced . Student uses English pronunciation of consonants like c, q, x, j soudns.
Tones

Does the student stress each word with the correct tones?

Advanced

All words are pronounced with correct tones.
Intermediate

Most words are pronounced with correct tones.
Novice

Numerous errors cause the recitation to be unintelligible in places.
