Mosaic 
Students will create a design (realistic, abstract, or non-objective) and create a mosaic using the direct method of mosaic application. They may choose to use the masonite panel provided or bring in another object of comparible size to mosaic.

A

The student gave an effort far beyond the requirements of the project. Tiles are organized in a complex manner. Student made careful selection of grout color to maximize design.

The student finished the project but it lacked finished touches. The project could be improved upon with little effort. Organization of tiles is minimal. Student did not consider contrast when choosing grout color.

The student showed poor craftsmanship or lacked understanding. They did not ask for help or responded negatively at times to help to improve their craftsmanship or understanding.
Student had sloppy mosaic placement with poor spacing. Grouting is sloppy and tiles are not polished off.

The student disregarded craftsmanship and did not put forth effort for understanding.
They did not ask for help or responded negatively to help to improve their craftsmanship or understanding. Student didn't finish mosaic placement or did not grout.

The student is always willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects. Student always work well with others and utilizes the studio time and clean-up.
B

The student is usually willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; works well with others. Student is in their seat when the bell rings and utilizes the studio time and clean-up.
C

The student is sometimes willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; works somewhat well with others. Student is in seat when bell rings and uses studio time appropriately with appropriate clean-up time.
D

The student is rarely willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; sometimes works well with others. Student is sometimes not in seat when bell rings. Student uses minimum amount of studio time.
F

The student does not show willingness to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects; does not work well with others. Student is often not in seat when the bell rings and/or rushes to finish and stop working early.
