Getting There An attempt is made for clear topic sentence. Idea is understood but sentence may need re-worded.	Accomplished Clear topic sentence; Sentence/s clearly introduces the main idea of the paragraph.
Sentences	Need Help There is little or no attempt to complete a powerful paragraph with sentences that support the main idea.	Needs Work Run-on sentences. Sentences are not varied and transitions are not used to help carry the main idea throughout the paragraph.
