Introductory Paragraph 10 pts This paragraph begins with a hook (attention grabber) and introduces the essay's purpose. It includes a thorough thesis statement. Thesis statement should be ONE sentence that includes the essay's purpose along with three points that prove the that purpose.	Exceeds Expectations The introduction is inviting, contains an attention grabber, states the main topic, and previews the structure of the paper using a well-written thesis statement. It includes all necessary elements of an introductory paragraph	Meets Expectations The introduction clearly states the main topic and previews the structure of the paper, but is not particularly inviting to the reader. Includes all necessary elements of an introductory paragraph.	Below Expectations The introduction states the main topic, but does not adequately preview the structure of the paper nor is it particularly inviting to the reader. First Body Paragraph 10 pts This paragraph should include the thesis statements first main point. It must be effectively explained using specific evidence. Thorough details must be given. Readability: Spelling & Punctuation 10 pts Punctuation, Capitalization, Consistent Point of view and verb tense. Essay should be checked for correct spelling and punctuation.
