Signing Hand Drawing

Requirements	Above Mastery 2 contour drawings of hands in American Sign Language. Hands are 6" tall or life size using students initials w/ each hand skillfully drawn. Used colors for outlines and background.	Mastery Students used all but one of the requirements.	Average Students used all but two of the requirements.	Needs Improvement Students used all but three of the requirements.
Contour Line	Above Mastery Sensitivity of line was used to draw hands. VARIETY of line was consistent throughout the drawing. Skillfully drawn and traced with sharpie.	Mastery Line was drawn with sensitivity, variation and was patiently applied in some areas but was not consistent.	Average Line was drawn with sensitivity but not consistent or sketchy lines used.	Needs Improvement Very little care was given to drawing line for the hands. Line was sloppy or quickly sketched in; sketchy lines used more than contour lines.
Drawn Background	Above Mastery Student completed a unique fully utilized background space. Background includes 8-10 signs or symbols that describes the person.	Mastery Student completed a unique background that uses the whole page. Symbols need refinement.	Average Student did not complete a unique background. Used 1 color, but incomplete.	Needs Improvement Student did not complete background and shows little or no effort.
Technical & Creative Effort / Finish/ Material Usage	Above Mastery Excellent effort in drawing accurately. Media is used carefully & skillfully. Drawing is completely finished with no erasure marks or smudges.	Mastery Good amount of creative effort. Media is used carefully & skillfully but some areas need a little more attention. Drawing is completely finished.	Average Some effort attempted. Media is used fairly well but could be improved or cleaned up. Some areas of the drawing may need further attention. Very messy.	Needs Improvement Little or no effort attempted. Media is used sloppily or incorrectly, drawing is unfinished or appears messy and needs attention. Did not attempt to draw accurate hands.
Work Ethic Observation	Above Mastery Stayed on task during class time on a daily basis.	Mastery Had a couple of off days and sometimes did not make good use of class time.
