Homelessness: Role Play Job Interview

Character Interview Based on Code Orange by Caroline Cooney

Students will work in pairs to conduct an interview using a character from the homelessness awareness assignment. The interview must include an introduction of the character/scenario and should reflect full character development.

Introduction	Ineffective An introduction to the interview was not included.	Effective The introduction stated the character's name however, details describing the character were general or vague.	Proficient The introduction gave a good description of the character being interviewed. The audience was able to get a clear picture of who was being interviewed.
Interview Questions	Ineffective Questions were irrelevant/inappropriate for the job. Questions/Answers did nothing to give the audience an understanding of the interviewee's social status and predicament.	Effective The questions in the presentation were simple yes/no questions. Questions/Answers only gave the audience a glimpse of the interviewee's social status and predicament.	Proficient The questions varied in type and were relevant to the role play. Questions/Answers gave the audience a clear picture of the interviewee's social status and predicament.
Presentation	Ineffective The presentation showed little to no comprehension of the assignment. The presentation was difficult to follow and did not accurately portray the assigned role. Conversation during the interview is basic, not revealing, and showed little thought/preparation.	Effective The presentation showed some comprehension of the assignment and somewhat portrays the assigned role. Conversation during the interview is somewhat complex and shows some thought/preparation.
