Adequate Student is able to write key signature, time signature, barlines, and scale with some errors.	Poor Student is not able to write key signature, time signature, barlines, and scale properly.
Composition Melody includes a variety of steps and leaps using only notes in the key and follows Rondo form and has a clear sense of the tonic.	Excellent Student is able to compose a melody with a variety of steps and leaps, and proper tonic and dominant placement.	Proficient Student is able to compose a melody with a variety of steps and leaps, a variety of note values, and proper tonic and dominant placement with few or minor errors.
