Poetry Project Poetry Project Students will choose a specific topic to write a poem about. The students will go through the writing process (prewriting, drafting, editing, revising and publishing) to create a poem that contains 4 stanzas with 4 lines in each stanza. The poem will have a consistent rhyme scheme throghout the poem. The student will type their poem and paste it onto a piece of construction paper. Topic	Poor The chosen topic does not relate a strong emotion.	Fair The chosen topic has a slight emotional connection.	Good The chosen topic provides a strong emotional connection to the reader.
Rhyme Scheme	Poor There is no rhyme scheme.	Fair The rhyme scheme does not consistently follow that of the model poem.	Good There is a consistent rhyme scheme that follows the model poem.
Format	Poor The poem does not follow the format of one of the poems analyzed.	Fair While the poem follows the format of one of the analyzed poems, it is not consistent.	Good The poem follows the format of one of the analyzed poems exactly.
Spelling/Grammar	Poor Many words are misspelled. The poem doesn't contain correct punctuation and/or sentence structure.	Fair A few words are misspelled. The poem cotains a few mistakes in punctuation and/or sentence structure.	Good Most words are spelled correctly. The poem contains almost no mistakes in punctuation and/or sentence structure.
