The introduction and conclusion speak to the reader.	Good The introduction and conclusion act like bookends. However, some of the "moves" your textbook recommends are not present, or the introduction and conclusion do not engage the reader.	Needs Improvement The introduction and the conclusion do not act like bookends. Your major point remains unclear.
Description/Summary	Excellent The description of the plot/ethical issue gives us the information we need. The additional description of characters or setting supports the main idea. The description is engaging and effective.	Good The description and/or dialogue is appropriate. However, it is not convincing because it feels stereotyped and trite due to poorly chosen vocabulary or lack of sensory details.	Needs Improvement Either there is almost no description and/or dialogue, or it is poorly developed and misapplied. In consequence, we find it hard to become involved with the memoir.
Reflection/Discussion	Excellent The writer explains the issues that lead to the judgment or ethical choice. The choice of issues seem reasonable. The issues are clearly developed. The writer is persuasive.	Good All the bases are covered, but either the writer is still not persuasive, or the issues do not seem reasonable. The ethical problem is one of degree and not quality.	Needs Improvement Something is missing. Either the ethical issues are not explained, or the connection between the issues and the judgment are not made well.
