Cover 10 pts 1. Name 2. Title 3. Author 4. Picture	Excellent All required pieces of information are present. It is colored and neat	Good All pieces there, but picture is not detailed or colored.	Fair Half of the required information is present. Picture is sloppy and incomplete.	Poor Less than half of the required information is missing.
Summary 30 pts 1. Main Characters 2. Setting (Where,When) 3. Action/Events	Excellent Formatted with introduction, body and conclusion. Contains all the elements listed.	Good The events of the story are somehwat clear, but some information appears to be missing.	Fair Some of the elements are present, but some are missing. The reader has trouble following the story line according to the elements.	Poor Most story elements are missing.
Book Review 10 pts	Excellent Format is completed with 4-5 sentences that express thoughts thoroughly.	Good Format is completed with 2-3 sentences.	Fair Format is completed with 1-2 sentences that leave the reader confused.	Poor Book review not done.
Characters and Setting Page 10 pts	Excellent Student fully describes both characters and setting in complete sentences.	Good Student names characters but little or no description and/or setting description is also limited.	Fair Student writes names of characters and a one or two-word setting descriptions. Incomplete sentences used.	Poor There is no character and/or setting page done.
Neatness/Presentation 10 pts	Excellent Writing and drawing shows final draft effort.	Good Writing is not always neat and may have corrections crossed out rather than erased. Illustrations look as if may have been rushed or less than full effort given.	Fair Writing is messy. Illustrations not colored and show little detail.	Poor Illegible and/or no illustrations.
Project 20 pts Commerical Shadow Box Story Map Character Comparison Mini Book or other approved project	Excellent Project is complete, organized, prepared on time, and exceeds basic expectations.	Good Project is complete, organized, prepared on time, and meets basic expectations.	Fair Project is complete and organized. Tells about the story.	Poor Project is somewhat complete and organized. Somewhat tells about the story.
Presentation 10 pts	Excellent Presentation was completed with eye contact and enough details to interest the audience in the book.	Good Presentation was given but portions were read slight interest was aroused.	Fair Presentation was read and little excitement was conveyed.	Poor Presentation was very short, presenter did not know words that were used in the writing. Not much excitement was generated for the book.
