Grade 5 Still Life Drawing of Geometric Forms

Students drew geometric forms from observation based on a set up table top still life. A light source was used. Students reviewed composition and placement of objects. Students were also instructed to use highlights and shading.

Understanding Depth	Poor Students did not include evidence of form (2D to 3D) by not drawing more than one side on their objects (except the sphere).	Fair Students included some evidence of form by including an attempt to create another side to their objects. (except the sphere).	Good Students accurately displayed evidence of objects having more than one side within their work. (except the sphere).
Use of Line to show form	Poor Shapes showed no attempt of using lines to show illusion of form ( for example a curved bottom, or an ellipse at the top)	Fair An attempt at using lines to show illusion of form was made.	Good Students accurately used lines in all of the objects to show the illusion of form .
Variation of size	Poor Students have just overlapping or they just have different baselines of objects or the objects drawn seem to be of all the same size.	Fair Students demonstrate either overlapping, or they have different baselines of their objects and variation in sizes.	Good Students include overlapping of the objects, different baselines, and variation of the sizes of the objects in relation to each other.
