Photo Collage / Combining Photos
Photo Collage made to demonstrate knowledge of elements and principles of composition/design. Photoshop tools should be used effectively. 1 final image should be posted on NING.com in a JPEG format AND the original Photoshop (.PSD file) has to be uploaded to the COLWEB col.cdm.depaul.edu . You might use text and/or any other design element available to you in photoshop. Emphasis on experimentation and attention to detail. Stop Motion Animation
The student will create a short clip using Stop Motion techniques. That movie will be eligible to participate in the Stop Motion Awards 3 ceremony where some judges will choose the best videos. Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Dolls with movable joints or clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. Stop motion animation using plasticine is called clay animation or "clay mation" and there are some other techniques.

Video Game Programming-Final Game
For your final game, you will be building an educational game. Remember, this game MUST teach concepts, vocabulary, theories or other educational themes. Remember you can work with ERA faculty to create a game that is useful in an instructor's class for a bonus of 25 points. This game must contain 3 student created backgrounds, 3 student created sprites, and must make use of some form of gravity. Remember when using complicated variables that some variable programming (equations, etc) will be very difficult to program, so take that into account when designing.

Create a magazine spread that replicates your favorite magazine. Choose the publication of your choice. Be sure you select one that showcases all the InDesign elements that have been practiced and applied in class. Pay attention to detail and make the finished product look as professional as possible. Typeface poster design project
The students will develop a poster design on a specific typeface of their choice. The poster must effectively utilize elements and principles of graphic design and the grid structure. The poster must be in black & white only and should include the name of the typeface, the typeface designer's name, the year it was created, a series of alpha characters in upper and lowercase, the full set of numerals, special characters, one supporting graphic element, and a brief paragraph about the history of the typeface.

Value Composition in Pencil
Value Composition in Pencil. The composition demonstrates the students ability to create the Illusion of volume or form using the element of Art: Value and the principle of composition. Composition uses at least 3 objects that overlap; value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the methods taught in class (tonal, crosshatch, linear, stippling, unique). Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.
