	Meeting - 3 6 pts	Developing - 2 4 pts	Beginning - 1 2 pts
Daily Responses Responses are recorded daily (3 entries each day).	Meeting - 3 3 Responses are recorded.	Developing - 2 2 Responses are recorded.	Beginning - 1 1 Response is recorded.
Completion Journal entry has a textual reference and uses the reference in order to make a personal response that correlates to a reading strategy.	Meeting - 3 Journal entries are completed using textual references and gives detailed personal responses that correlate to the reading strategies and showed a true understanding of what was being read.	Developing - 2 Journal entries are somewhat complete, and uses textual references or gives detailed personal responses that correlate to the reading strategies that showed an understanding of what was being read.	Beginning - 1 Journal entries are incomplete and/or complete, and uses textual references or gives personal responses that correlate to the reading strategies, but the overall response lacked important detail showing understanding of what was being read.
Response Quality Responses are fully developed and on topic.	Meeting - 3 Responses are fully developed and strongly on-topic.	Developing - 2 Responses are acceptably developed and remain on-topic for the most part.	Beginning - 1 Responses are underdeveloped and do not remain on-topic.
Connections Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 2 out of 4 times.	Meeting - 3 Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 3/4 times.	Developing - 2 Student attempts to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection at least 1/2 times.	Beginning - 1 Student makes little to no attempt to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection.
Reflection Student has made an attempt to reflect on meaning, theme, message, or issue of the text.	Meeting - 3 Student has made an excellent attempt to reflect on meaning, theme, message, or issue of the text.	Developing - 2 Student has made an acceptable attempt to reflect on meaning, theme, message, or issue of the text.	Beginning - 1 Student has made no attempt to reflect on meaning, theme, message, or issue of the text.
