DANCE PERFORMANCE

Incorporation of Jazz Movement	Needs Work Work reflects little or no effort to include jazz dance movements.	In-Progress Work reflects some jazz dance movements.	Good Work reflects a good effort from the student. Most of the requirement has been met, but is unclear or missing some movements.	Excellent Work reflects the strong efforts of the group to include all required jazz dance vocabulary in a creative performance.
Time	Needs Work The dance is too short.	In-Progress Students attempts to create something new, but simply rearranged previously taught phrases and dance patterns. Energy is low, there is no ensemble, too much use of the mirror.	Good Students attempted to incorporate instructor suggestions.	Excellent Students have created a successful, dynamic new routine with innovative combinations. All participants are dynamic and energetic.
Technical skills	Needs Work Students remember the dance, however little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	In-Progress Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.	Good Dance performed to the best of their ability with attention to some details of technique. But energy is uneven, clear which is their "favorite" move and which moves are troublesome for them. Basically need more practice.	Excellent Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, their body position, their placement on stage and other details of dance. Demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style. Enjoying themselves in the dance.
