Contour Line Orchid

Student is to draw an orchid in pencil, outline in sharpie with line variation, and add a watercolor gradation to the background.

	Needs Improvement The student does not meet the objectives and criteria for the project. 12 pts	Developing The student meets some of the minimal criteria for this project. 15 pts	Mastery The student meets most of the objectives and criteria for the project. 18 pts	Above Mastery Student meets and exceeds the objectives and criteria for the project. 20 pts
Drawing Accuracy pts -Drawing is in proportion to still-life. -Accuracy of curves/shapes. -Contour Lines are smooth. -Perspective (view) is accurate. -Drawing has line variation. -Table line is in correct space.	Needs Improvement Proportions are incorrect. Contour Lines are sketchy and have no variation. Drawing shows too many perspectives (front, top, side). There is no table line or table line was drawn without a ruler.	Developing Drawing is somewhat in proportion but shapes/curves of orchid are not accurate. Contour Lines are smooth but have little variation.	Mastery Orchid is drawn to fill the space, is in proportion, and shapes/ curves are mostly accurate. Contour Lines are smooth and include line variation.	Above Mastery Contour Lines are smooth and Varied, Attention to detail in orchid and design in background.
Composition pts -Drawing fills up the paper. -Drawing is centered on the paper.	Needs Improvement Orchid is drawn "floating" in center of the page and is drawn too small. Drawing is not centered.	Developing Orchid is drawn a good size but not centered on the page.	Mastery Orchid is drawn to scale, sitting on a table, and centered on the page.	Above Mastery Orchid fills the space and is seen from an interesting point of view. Drawing is centered, is sitting on a table.
Craftsmanship pts -Use of elements and principles. -Overall drawing is neat. -Sharpie lines are smooth. -No extraneous marks, smudges, eraser lines. -Paper is not wrinkled, creased, or ripped.	Needs Improvement The student shows an undeveloped knowledge and application of art elements (line, shape , color, etc...) and little creativity. The student does not make efforts to neatly use art materials.	Developing The student shows a developing knowledge and application of design elements and shows some creativity in design. Craftmanship and neatness is not consistant.	Mastery The student demonstrates knowledge and application of design elements and shows creativity in design. The student demonstrates good and adequate craftsmanship and neatness when using chosen art materials.	Above Mastery The student shows an advanced knowledge and application of design elements and shows excellent creativity in design.Excellent craftsmanship is demonstrated throughout the process of the project.
Watercolor pts -Use of at least three watercolor techniques. -Drawing is completely painting with no white areas showing. -Painting is neat. -Background painting with an interesting pattern.	Needs Improvement There is no variety in painting techniques. Painting is sloppy and not thought out. White of the paper is still showing	Developing Painting shows some variation but does not meet the minimum of 3 different techniques.	Mastery Student successfully used 3 different watercolor techniques learned in class. Painting is neat and there is no white showing.	Above Mastery Student successfully used more than three watercolor techniques. Painting is neat and there is no white showing.
Effort/Attitude/Use of Class Time pts -Student worked from bell to bell everyday -Student listened to teachers constructive criticism, and applied suggestions where necessary -Student completed project on time and worked at home/during open/afterschool when necessary -Student cleaned up all materials everyday	Needs Improvement Student is at times argumentive and/or uninvolved.
