Guitar Performance Assessment
	Excellent 10 pts	Good 8 pts	fair 7 pts	poor 6 pts
Correct Note/Chords	Excellent Piece is played with no mistakes in notes, and effort is show in interpreting the notation or chords to make it musical.	Good Most notes or chords are played correctly, and student illustrates effort in being able to play the correct chords or notes.	fair Many notes or chords are played incorrectly, or student illustrates very little effort in being able to play the assessment piece.	poor Most notes are played incorrectly, or student does not attempt to play chords or notes for assessment piece.
Notation/TAB/Chords Reading	Excellent Student reads all notes/ TAB /chords correctly, and illustrates tremendous progress with reading music at more difficult levels with complex rhythms, and new notes and chord voicings.	Good Student reads most notes/ TAB /chords correctly, and illustrates progress with reading music, especially in retaining a steady tempo and illustrating correct frets, note indication, and chord structure.	fair Student is able to read some notes/ TAB/ or chords correctly, but may show little effort in progressing with reading music, and possibly struggles with retaining a steady tempo and illustrating correct frets, note indication, and chord structure.	poor Student struggles with being able to read any notes/ TAB/ or chords correctly, and shows little effort in progressing with reading music.
Tempo	Excellent Student is able to play a piece of music at desired tempo throughout the entire performance.	Good Student is mostly able to play piece at the desired tempo with a steady beat.	fair Student struggles with retaining a steady tempo, and may not play at the desired tempo.	poor Student cannot play piece with a steady tempo.
Rhythm	Excellent Student plays rhythms accurately, with attention to correct subdivision, and may be able to play more complex rhythms.	Good Student plays most rhythms accurately, with attention to correct subdivision.	fair Student struggles with knowing correct rhythms, and playing them correctly.	poor Student cannot play piece with correct rhythms.
Technique	Excellent Student plays the instrument correctly, and focuses on using the correct posture and fingering, and illustrates progress towards a conscious awareness of technique.	Good Student mostly plays the instrument correctly, and focuses on using the correct posture and fingering, and illustrates progress towards a conscious awareness of technique.	fair Student may be able to produce sound, but struggles with playing with the correct fingers on the fretboard, or with making progress with technical facility on the instrument.	poor Student struggles with knowing correct technique, and how to hold the instrument, and produce the sound accurately, and shows little progress with changing this habits.
