Animal Simple Report

Students are selecting an animal, researching and writing about their animal. The report should tell about where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, and any interesting fun facts about their animal. Students will write their report notes on pre-printed word webs and then write a simple report.

Animal Report

Animals' Habitat	Limited Gives little (1-2) or no details about where the animal is found and includes very few facts about the animals habitiat.	Good Gives 3 details about where the animal is found in the world and/or too general.	Excellent Gives 4+ details about where in the world the animal is found, and tells many specific facts about it's habitat.
What the animal looks like	Limited Gives little (1-2) or no interesting facts about the animal.	Good Give one or two interesting facts about the chosen animal.	Excellent Student has given three or more interesting facts about their chosen animal.
Animal's Food/Hunting	Limited Lists 1-2 simple items that the animal eats, could be general to all animals.	Good Lists 3-4 appropriate items that the animal eats. Tells about its prey and predators.	Excellent Lists 4+specific items that the animal eats. Tells about its prey and predators.
What animal can do	Limited Description of animal is inaccurate or does not give any important details.	Good Gives 1-2 facts on what the animal can do.	Excellent Gives 3+ facts on what the animal can do.
Interesting Facts	Limited Gives little (1-2) or irrelevant facts about the animal.	Good Gives 3 interesting facts about the chosen animal.	Excellent Student has at least 4 interesting facts about their chosen animal.
Map of Location	Limited No map of where the animal was discovered.	Good Gives a map of where the animal was discovered.	Excellent Gives a detailed colored map of the place where animal is found.
Organization	Limited Facts are not organized into paragraphs.	Good Paragraphs are evident, some information may/may not fit.	Excellent All paragraghs are organized with appropriate details.
Grammar and Spelling	Limited Very frequent grammar and/or spelling errors which interferes with the flow of the piece.	Good Student has a few spelling and/or grammar errors, which occasionally interrupts the flow of the piece.	Excellent Student has little spelling and/or grammar errors, making it easy for the reader to move through the piece.
