Using Assigned Notes & Rests	Advanced Student has included all the required notation correctly including other 'specialty' notes or dotted notes with few or no rests used; Advanced compositional notation.	Proficient Student has used correctly all the required notation with very little rests. Interesting compositional notation.	Basic Student has included at least 3 of the required notation; rests are not overused; good compositional notation.	Poor Student has included little of the required notation or has not used the notation correctly failing to complete the measures as directed.
Performance	Advanced Student plays composition with correct rhythms and no pauses.	Proficient Student plays composition with most rhythms correct and only a few pauses.	Basic Student plays composition with some rhythms correct and more than five pauses.	Poor Student plays composition with few rhythms correct and with an inconsistent tempo.
Productivity	Advanced Student stayed on task all of the time without reminders.	Proficient Student stayed on task most of the time.	Basic Student stayed on task some of the time. Needed more than five reminders to get back to work.	Poor Student hardly ever stayed on task.
Neatness	Advanced Written assignment was neat and legible with all words spelled correctly.	Proficient Written assignment was somewhat neat and mostly legible. Less than two spelling mistakes.	Basic Written assignment was somewhat messy and hard to read. At least five spelling mistakes.	Poor Written assignment was messy, not legible at all and had more than ten misspelled words.
