The purpose of the song is unclear and doesn't seem to have any focus or topic.

The song SOMEWHAT fits its title or topic; however, it is still unclear.

The song has a clear purpose.
Distingushed

The song has a clear purpose and is exciting to listen to.
Tempo/Melody

The speed/pace and the tune of the song.

Unsatisfactory

The song is choppy with an unnatural mix of tempo. The melody of the song is unclear.
Basic

The tempo and rhythm are sometimes unclear and/or slow down and speed up. The melody is apparent is some places but unclear in others.
Proficent

The tempo and rhythm are consistent. The melody is mostly smooth and clear.
Distingushed

The melody and rhythm are perfectly performed. It grasped the audience's attention during the entire presentation.
Lyrics

A set of words, phrases or sounds that make up a song.

Unsatisfactory

The lyrics clash with the melody and have very little meaning to the writer.
Basic

The lyrics are starting to flow with the melody.
Proficent

The lyrics are meaningful and connect to the music.
Distingushed

The lyrics are meaningful to the artists, flow with the melody and connect to the overall song.
Verse/Chorus Standards

There must be at least TWO separate verses and the chorus must have at least FOUR lines.

Unsatisfactory

The song has one or no verses and the chorus is only a line or two.
Basic

The song has at least one completed verse. The chorus is mostly complete.
Proficent

The song has the minimum requirement of 2 verses. The chorus is complete with at least 4 lines to it.
Distingushed

The song has three or more verses and the chorus is complete. The song has gone above and beyond the minimum requirement of 2 verses.
Audience's Response

How the audience of your peers react to your song.

Unsatisfactory

The song has little or no impact on your peers. They sit and listen quietly, but have very little to say about it.
Basic

Some peers may tap their foot, smile occasionally and nod to the rhythm. They make a few comments, but not many.
Proficent

The audience interacts with the song through body movement, laughter, talk or dance. Many comments follow the playing of the song.
Distingushed

You have a hit on your hands. Students laugh out loud, hoot, clap, dance and give enormous praise to your song. They may even seek copies of your masterpiece.
