Question	Poor Question is too broad and can't be investigated with aquaponics.	Good Question may be answerable but is not focused.	Advanced Question is narrowly focused and testable.
Variables	Poor Doesn't identify variables.	Good Identifies a variable being tested and one being measured.	Advanced Independent and dependent variables are specific, correctly identified, and well thought out.
Hypothesis	Poor Poorly stated and doesn't reflect a relationship among the variables.	Good Stated but may not clearly attempt to show a relationship between the variables.	Advanced Hypothesis is clearly testable and shows a relationship between the dependent and independent variable being tested.
Materials	Poor Materials list is incomplete or inappropriate for the designated aquaponics experiment.	Good Most materials are listed, may be missing one or two items.	Advanced Complete detailed list, presented in the format specified by teacher.
Procedure	Poor Does not attempt to address hypothesis; only one trial or clearly insufficient number of trials; procedure unclear, hard to follow; does not address safety	Good Attempts to test hypothesis; multiple trials attempted; format specified by teacher is generally followed; omissions makes procedure not repeatable; addresses only critical safety concerns.
