Inferring Each category is worth 20 points
	Level 4 Excellent 4 pts	Level 3 Good 3 pts	Level 2 Fair 2 pts	Level 1 Poor 1 pts
Visual Clues	Level 4 Consistently makes inferences from visual clues and observations, and explains the relevance to their inferences.	Level 3 Usually makes inferences that are consistent with visual clues and observations	Level 2 Sometimes makes inferences that are consistent with visual clues and observations	Level 1 Does not use the text or uses the visual inappropriately to draw an inference
Background Knowledge	Level 4 Explains the connection of visual clues to background knowledge or ideas and beliefs to make inferences.	Level 3 Connects the visual and background knowledge or ideas and beliefs to make inferences.	Level 2 Sometimes uses relevant background knowledge that supports visual to make inferences.	Level 1 Does not use background knowledge or uses background knowledge inappropriately.
Communication	Level 4 Selects and uses the most appropriate information from the visual.	Level 3 Selects and uses appropriate information from the visual.	Level 2 Selects and uses some information from the visual.	Level 1 Inconsistently or ineffectually uses information from the visual.
