Sugar Cookie Rubric 
Students will be given a sugar cookie recipe and asked to divide the recipe in half. They must then complete the recipe from start to finish in 75 minutes with 25 minutes of freezer time, during which time students will complete a 46 question food-safety/menu items written exam.

Excellent-The cookie is crispy on the outside, is chewy on the inside, and includes moistness but is not greasy.

Poor-The cookie is broken, burnt, or raw.

Fair-The cookie is golden brown and less than 2" in diameter.
Good 15

Good- The cookie is whole, golden brown, 2"-4" in diameter.
Excellent 20

Excellent- The cookie is whole, golden brown, 4" in diameter. It is thickest in the center and thinner on the edges, and presented on an aesthetically pleasing plate or napkin.
Taste

Poor 5

Poor- The cookie is stale, salty, or dry. It is tasteless with bland flavored dough.
Fair 10

Fair- The cookie is semi-fresh with a buttery flavor.
Good 15

Good- Delicious!
- The cookie is fresh with a sweet, buttery flavor.
Excellent 20

Excellent- Heaven in your mouth!
- The cookie is oven fresh with a sweet, rich, buttery flavor.
Smell

Poor 5

Poor-The cookie smells burnt or unpleasant, or has no smell at all.
Fair 10

Fair-The cookie has a buttery odor when held near the nose.
Good 15

Good-The cookie has a buttery odor when held at an arm's length.
Excellent 20

Excellent-The cookie has a rich, buttery smell from 6' away. The smell makes your mouth water and want a cookie.
