Rhythms Students will identify, classify, produce, and perform rhythms.
	Novice 2 pts	Apprentice 3 pts	Proficient 4 pts	Distinguished 5 pts
Identify a pattern Student identifies pattern being played or clapped and determines how many beats are in the pattern.	Novice Student is unable to identify pattern being performed and is unable to determine the number of beats in a pattern.	Apprentice Student is able to identify which pattern is being performed but cannot determine how many beats are in the pattern.	Proficient Student is able to identify pattern being performed and is able to determine the number of counts/beats in the pattern with prompting.	Distinguished Student is able to identify pattern being performed and is able to determine the number of counts/beats in the pattern independently.
Notes/Rest Identification Crotchet note Crotchet rest Quavers Quaver Rests Minim Dotted minim	Novice Student is unable to identify any notes or rests. Novice Student is not able to perform (0 measures) a 4 measure pattern of notes and rests while clapping and speaking the rhythm independently.	Apprentice Student is able to perform some (1-2 measures) of a 4 measure pattern of notes and rests while clapping and speaking the rhythm independently.	Proficient Student is able to perform the majority (3 measures) of a 4 measure pattern of notes and rests while clapping and speaking the rhythm independently.	Distinguished Student is able to perform all (4 measures) of a 4 measure pattern of notes and rests while clapping and speaking the rhythm independently.
