Groupings of Words	4 Reads in large chunks (most of the words).	3 Reads in smaller chunks (some of the words).	2 Reads in small chunks, (only a few words).	1 Reads one word at a time.
Sounding out Words	4 Sounds out words, steady with no hesitations	3 Sounds out most words but needs small improvement due to a few hesitations.	2 Sounds out a few words and is inconsistent, sometimes smooth and steady, sometimes faltering.	1 Is beggining to sound out word.
Punctuation Pauses	4 Pauses appropriately for all punctuation.	3 Pauses appropriately for most punctuation.	2 Ignores more than 50% of the punctuation.	1 Ignores most or all punctuation.
