Word Choice	Poor Does not use word choice to create mood.	Sufficient Uses one example of word choice per sentence to create mood.	Good Uses two examples of word choice per sentence to create mood.	Very Good Uses three or more examples of word choice per sentence to create mood.
Completion	Poor Does not attempt any of the sentences.	Sufficient Attempted one of the sentences.	Good Attempted three of four sentences.	Very Good Attempted all five sentences.
Mastery of Mood/Tone	Poor Shows no knowledge of how tone affects mood.	Sufficient Shows little knowledge of how tone affects mood. Shows little attempt to create complex sentences.	Good Shows adequate knowledge of how tone affects mood. Creates a complex sentence or two out of the simple sentence.	Very Good Showed exemplary knowledge of how tone affects mood.
