Research Student conducts appropriate biographical research. Research includes information about the poet's birth, significant life events, career path and inspirations.	Excellent Student conducted thorough research and presented all required facts about the assigned poet.	Proficient Student conducted research and presented most of the required facts about the assigned poet.	Adequate Student conducted research and presented only a few facts that are relevant to the poet.	Poor Student conducted very little research about his/her poet
Poetry Analysis (Out of 50) Student selects one of the poet's works to analyze.	Excellent Student selected one poem and provided an in-depth analysis and personal commentary. The analysis appropriately discusses the poet devices covered in class. (50 points)	Proficient Student selected one poem and attempted to provide an analysis and personal commentary. The analysis mentions one or two poetic devices covered in class. (45 points)	Adequate Student selected one poem. The analysis or personal commentary is weak and contains wrong or missing figurative language and poetic devices. (40 points)	Poor Student selected a poem but the analysis and personal commentary are not correct, missing, or does not contain any poetic devices or figurative language. (35 points)
