Letter to Author as final book project for READ180

Students will write a letter to the author of the book the student just completed. Students will share their connections, observations, and questions with the author. Students should write a draft, revise it, then write a final copy of their letter

Introduction	Excellent Introduced yourself and told somehting about yourself. Told what book you read by the author. Gave the author a compliment	Good Completed two of the three requirements	Fair Completed one of the three requirements.	Poor Student did not follow format or include an introduction
Paragraph 2	Excellent Told the author how you liked the book and gave examples why. Shared a favorite part, and told what you liked about it.	Good Told the author how you liked the book and your favorite part, but did not include examples or descriptions.	Fair Only told how your liked the book or your favorite part, but not both.	Poor Did not tell how you liked the book, or included a description of your favorite part.
Paragraph 3 Thoughts	Excellent Student wrote about 2 or more thoughts they had about the book. Student chose important, meaningful connections that go deeper in meaning.	Good Student wrote about 1 connections or thought they had about the book.	Fair Student wrote a thought but did not explain or make a connection	Poor Student did not discuss thoughts or connections to the book
