Final Project: Illustrated Quotes Poster 
Assignment: Choose 15 meaningful quotes from the On Course textbook and produce a 24 x 26 laminated poster that features the quotes, identifies their authors, and provides an illustration to accompany each one. The poster should be colorful and eye-catching. Illustrations should add to the quotes' meaning without overwhelming it.

There are 15 quotes, each chosen to represent a variety of principles from the textbook. Carefully chosen quotes would include a wide variety of notable people who have made important contributions. Students who carefully choose their quotes would know something about the person who made the statement in order to fully understand the significance of the quote.

Unacceptable (F)

The poster has fewer than 15 quotes from the textbook, many which are repetitive or superficial in meaning. They do not represent more than a few of the On Course principles and strategies.
Below Expectations (D)

The poster may have fewer than 15 quotes from the textbook. Some quotes may be repetitive in basic meaning or have been said by the same person. They do not adequately represent a variety of On Course principles and strategies. The student does not know anything about the person who said the quote.
Fair (C)

The poster has 15 quotes from the textbook. Some quotes may be similar in basic meaning or represent similar principles from the On Course textbook. The student does not know who each person quoted is or his/her important contributions that make the quote significant.
Meets Expectations (B)

The poster has 15 quotes from the textbook. The quotes mostly represent a variety of principles or strategies from the On Course textbook. The student knows who each person quoted is but may not know each one's important contributions that make the quote significant.
Exceptional (A)

Each quote is carefully chosen to obviously represent a unique strategy or principle as discussed in the textbook. Quotes represent persons of each gender as well as people of different races, ethnicities, ages, occupations, walks of life, etc. The student is able to identify and explain who the speaker of the quote is and his/her important contributions that make it a significant quote.

The poster is 24 x 36. The student may not have used standard poster board material. The poster is not laminated or may be laminated with clear packing tape rather than standard laminating sheets.

The poster is on standard 24 x 36 poster board and is laminated. The lamination paper may not be neatly trimmed or may be lifting from the edges of the poster board.
Exceptional (A)

The student followed the directions exactly as stated on the final project assignment sheet. The poster is on standard 24 x 36 poster board and is nicely laminated in order to keep it well-preserved and protected for many years.
Oral Presentation

The student prepared a 15-20 minute presentation for the class, demonstrating insights gained about the quotes or their authors as a result of the project.

Unacceptable (F)

The oral presentation was very short; it was difficult for the class to hear the presenter. The presenter merely read the quotes verbatim from the poster.
Below Expectations (D)

The oral presentation was less than 15 minutes; it may have been difficult for the class to hear the presenter. He/she read the quotes from the poster, mispronounced authors' names, and provided little or no information about the person quoted and/or why that quote was significant to the presenter.
Fair (C)

The oral presentation was 15 minutes in length. The presenter read the quotes from the poster, may have mispronounced authors' names and/or provided little information about the author of the quote. Presenter expressed little as to why that quote was significant to him/her.
Meets Expectations (B)

The oral presentation was 15-20 minutes in length. The presenter read the quotes from the poster, mispronouncing one or two authors' names. The presenter provided some insight into the personal significance of each quote and/or its author and why he/she chose to include it on the poster.
Exceptional (A)

The oral presentation was 120 minutes in length. The presenter read the quotes without hesitation and pronounced each author's name correctly. The presenter provided much insight into the personal significance of each quote and/or its author and why he/she chose to include it on the poster.
