Exceeding Standards

Poem is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into his or her words and uniquely conveyed his or her ideas and emotions.
Meeting Standards

Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.
Approaching Standards

Most of the poem is creative, but appears to be rushed. This is evident in the poet's redundancy or use of cliches.
Below Standards

Poem appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive, and ideas are unoriginal.
Form and length requirement

Exceeding Standards

The poem is complete and follows its intended form. Form and structure enhance meaning. Author delivers a minimum of 30 lines. Line endings are deliberate and well thought out. There are no grammar or spelling mistakes.
Meeting Standards

The poem is written with a few mistakes. Form and structure add somewhat to meaning. 30 lines are still present. Line endings are deliberate.
Approaching Standards

Form and structure seem to be incidental to meaning and/or there are fewer than 30 lines. Line endings are not deliberate. There are grammar and/or spelling mistakes that inhibit understanding.

Poem is incomplete and there seems to be no thought to structure and form. Line endings are not deliberate. There are many grammar and spelling mistakes that inhibit understanding.
