iRubric: English 2 Honors Writing Journal rubric

The writer's response is written at a superficial level and contains little substance, consisting of only a few lines. It is obvious that the writer did not focus on the writing nor did he/she return to the prompt at a later time in order to respond completely. The written response may not be on topic.

The writer's response is not as complete and comprehensive as it should be. Its length may show that the writer was not focused on the writing during the time allotted for the response or did not return to the entry at a later time in order to completely respond to the prompt. At times, the response may deviate from the topic but eventually refocuses.

Not including the page header or the prompt, the writer's response is substantial in length (1 1/2-2 full pages) showing that the writer focused on writing his/her most important thoughts during the time allotted for the response. The writer may have returned to the entry at a later time in order to completely respond to the prompt. The response is on topic.
