Understanding of topic	Poor Student did not demonstrate an understanding of the given topic. The journal does not show an understanding of the lesson.	Fair Student demonstrated a below average understanding of the topic. The student did not really understand the purpose, and merely did the task.	Good The student has an average understanding of the topic. The journal shows that the student grasps the concept well.	Awesome The student showed a complete understanding of the topic. The student demonstrated a complete understanding in his journal.
Dietary Analysis	Poor Entries did not contain valuable information. Did not mention the required information, and were not consistent.	Fair Student included some of the required information, but did not meet all of the requirements.	Good Student included all of the required information, but used very limited detail. The entries were very basic and showed no reflection of the day.	Awesome Entries contained all of the required information, and were very detailed. Student reflected each week and all of the entries were completed thoroughly
Data Entries	Poor The average journal entry is less than 2 per week.	Fair Averaged 2-3 journal entry per week.	Good 3-4 entries per week.	Awesome At least 5 entries for each week.
Effort	Poor Student did not put forth much effort. The journal was incomplete and did not contain adequate information.	Fair Student exerted some effort, but not enough to go the extra mile.
