Character Analysis

Analyzes the impact of character traits on the plot

Emerging

The student doesn't understand plot elements or can't identify character traits.
Partially Proficient

The student understands the character traits, but doesn't demonstrate understanding of how the character impacts the plot (lacks vocabulary)
Proficient

The student is able to explain how a character's traits impact the plot using specific vocabulary (rising action, conflict, resolution, etc)
Advanced

The student can analyze how the character impacts the plot, but also makes commentary on the believability of those actions.
