Response to Prompt: Ideas & Content	Poor (55-60) Writer's response has no connection with the lesson or prompt.	Fair (60-70) Writer's response discusses details covered in class or the text, but lacks a connection with the writing prompt.	Good (70-85) Writer's response has core content related to the prompt with some examples and details.	Very Good (85-100) Writer's response has core content, examples and details related to the prompt, AND goes into additional relevant details not expected to be covered in a regular response.
Work Completion	Poor (55-60) It is apparent that there was no effort put into the assignment due to a minimal amount of writing and organization.	Fair (60-70) Some effort was put into the assignment, but not much organization involved.	Good (70-85) A sufficient amount of effort was put into the assignment showing the writer took time to organize his/her thoughts.	Very Good (85-100) An apparently large amount of effort was put into the assignment. The writing is organized, and goes beyond the depth and length expected in a regular response.
Grammar & Conventions	Poor (55-60) Contains so many grammar and/or convention errors that the writing is hard to follow.	Fair (60-70) Contains frequent grammar and/or convention errors that are noticeable that slow or confuse the reader.	Good (70-85) Contains some grammar and/or convention errors that do not interfere with the reader's comprehension.	Very Good (85-100) Contains few if any errors in grammar and/or conventions that makes the writing easy to read and understand.
